Sunday, Nov. 24th, 2013,- The Student Ambassadors for Peace (SAP)-AUIS Chapter,  held its first ever event at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani(AUI,S) and invited all of the AUIS students and faculty staff members to celebrate the anniversary of the International Tolerance  day .
The event went very successfully. At the beginning of the event, Mahdi Murad, who is the international officer and founder of the Student Ambassadors for Peace-Iraq chapter, gave a brief speech and explained the mission of SAP and mentioned the importance of holding such events like “Tolerance Walk” inside the AUIS campus, the most diverse society in Iraq where students from almost all of the Iraqi provinces are gathered.  Later on, Rudan Balay, who is SAP-AUIS Chapter president, welcomed the students and faculty staff members for the event. Next, Balay and other SAP-AUIS Chapter board members directed the attendants to the event and toured the “Tolerance Walk” all around AUIS campus.
During the event, students and a number of faculty staff members hold different banners expressing their love for peace and tolerance. They also shouted,”Peace, love, and tolerance” and many other words expressing their willingness to live together and their hatred toward racism and inequality.
The Student Ambassadors for Peace is a non-governmental, nonpartisan organization created to represent and empower students globally. It provides resources, forums, and other tools through which students can educate themselves about the issues affecting humanity, discuss these issues with their peers from around the world, and translate their views and ideas for addressing these issues into meaningful actions. In addition, The Student Ambassadors for Peace serves as a useful forum to voice views of the youth about a range of national and international issues. SAP-Iraq chapter was founded by Mahdi Murad, an AUIS Business Major graduate and opened its first chapter in the heart of the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani (AUI,S).
Below are photos of the event.
