The Name of AUI is still Available!

to be a plagiarize checker that the professors depend on.



 Last Thursday, one of the promises was to keep Sulaimani with the name of the university. I really can't understand what is going on here. There are both the American University of Iraq and the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani in a single institution. I wonder to understand whether it has been forgotten to rewrite Sulaimani for this website or there is still a plan to change the name to AUI implicitly.

After several students were accepted from different countries in the Middle East to study in the United States in a program that is sponsored by The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), the participants have been divided into different groups. Each group will go to one of the universities in the United States partnering with MEPI for six weeks. One of those groups will go to Georgetown University. At Georgetown University, they will attend lecture series, readings, and discussions that are combined with visits to different places in the United States to develop their leadership skills.

Friday May 13^th, 2011, Sulaimani, Iraq- The Third Eye participated in the first meeting of the International Media Support at the American University of Iraq Sulaimani. The meeting started at 10 am and lasted until 4 pm. During the meeting, a lot of ideas were discussed among the participants in developing and expanding social media in Iraq.

What is Wrong With (-S)?!

A recent e-mail that has been sent out by James R. Harrigan, dean of the students, explains that both the name of the university and its acronym will be the same as the old ones with only some changes in their design. Thursday May 12^th, 2011, Sulaimani, Iraq- A large number of the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani students protested against removing  (-S) from the name of AUI-S. Since Sulaimani is the first city that hosts the American university, the students are angry about the decision that has been made by the board of trustees.

Dr. James Harrigan, dean of students, asked the students to stop protesting and waiting until next Monday when a big meeting will be held among the students, administration, and the board of the university. So, the protest didn’t last long due to the respect  for Dr. James’s acquisition.
