Thursday May 12th, 2011, Sulaimani, Iraq- A large number of the American University of Iraq-Sulaimani students protested against removing  (-S) from the name of AUI-S. Since Sulaimani is the first city that hosts the American university, the students are angry about the decision that has been made by the board of trustees.
Dr. James Harrigan, dean of students, asked the students to stop protesting and waiting until next Monday when a big meeting will be held among the students, administration, and the board of the university. So, the protest didn’t last long due to the respect  for Dr. James’s acquisition.
Dr. James promised the students that nothing will be changed until after the Monday’s meeting.
It is worth mentioning that the students are waiting until after that meeting. In case, the students won’t agree with the decision, they will restart protesting and boycotting the classes.
The students also start signing their names to show their support for not removing (-S) in the name of the American University.
